IT: Chapter Two
IT: Chapter Two — also being referred to as Largo — will begin production in Toronto this July through to October. Based on the novel by Stephen King, the second movie is set 27 years later when Pennywise returns to torment the group as adults. The movie has a long list of cast members including Bill Skarsgård, Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and James Ransone among others.
The Dogs of Babel
The Dogs of Babel will be filming in Toronto through to August, and its rumoured that among its cast is the hilarious Steve Carell. The movie is based around the book by Carolyn Parkhurst, and is said to be about a linguistics professor who tries to teach his dog to speak after it witnesses his wife’s murder.
Die in a Gunfight
Rumour has it that this new feature film – starring Olivia Munn, Helen Hunt and Josh Hutcherson – may be filming in Toronto this summer. Set in New York City, Die in a Gunfight tells the story of a young boy who falls for the daughter of his father’s biggest foe.
Shadowhunters – Season 3
Shadowhunters will be in production in Toronto for its third season this July through to August. The series centers around a young woman who finds out that she comes from a long lineage of Shadowhunters who fight demons.
V-Wars – Season 1
Netflix’s V-Wars will be filming in Toronto this July through to October. Based on the bestselling novel by Jonathan Maberry, the series will star The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder as Dr. Luther Swann in this new show about vampires.
American Gods – Season 2
With a few different filming locations, American Gods may be back on location in Toronto to film its second season through to August. Based on the 2001 novel by Neil Gaiman, fans wonder what direction the show will go after main characters Gillian Anderson and Bryan Fuller have left the series.
Kim’s Convenience – Season 3
Back for its third season, the hit CBC show Kim’s Convenience will wrap up filming in Toronto this July. The sitcom is actually set in the Moss Park neighbourhood in the city and follows a Korean family who runs a convenience store.
People of Earth – Season 3
Renewed for a third season, People of Earth will be filming in town through to July. Set in Beacon New York, the series centres around a support group known as “StarCrossed” for those who have experienced an alien encounter.
Star Trek: Discovery – Season 2
Star Trek: Discovery will be filming its second season in Toronto through to November. Also being referred to by its code name Green Harvest, the series is set roughly 1o years before the original Star Trek series and stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp and Michelle Yeoh.
Private Eyes – Season 3
Private Eyes will be filming in the city through to August for its third season. Starring Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson, the series revolves around a former hockey player who becomes a detective and partners with a private investigator.
Frankie Drake Mysteries – Season 2
Frankie Drake Mysteries will be on location in Toronto this July filming for its second season. Set in the 1920’s, this drama series revolves around Toronto’s only female detective Frankie Drake played by Lauren Lee Smith.
The Boys – Season 1
Based on the comic book The Boys by Garth Ennis, this new superhero drama series will be filming in Toronto through to September. With a long cast list including Karl Urban, Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, and Anthony Starr among others, the series was created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Eric Kripke.
Suits – Season 8
Suits will be in production in Toronto for its eighth season through to November. Many wonder what the new season will bring after fans had to say goodbye to two longtime characters in last season’s finale – Rachel Zane played by Meghan Markle and Mike Ross played by Patrick J. Adams.
Killjoys – Season 4 & 5
The series Killjoys will be in production in Toronto until September for its fourth and fifth season. While fans still have a few more seasons to enjoy, it has been announced that season five will be the show’s last.
The Umbrella Academy – Season 1
Based on the comic book series The Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way, this new series will be filming its first season in Toronto until mid-July. Notable cast members include Mary J. Blige, Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, and David Castañeda. The series follows a somewhat dysfunctional family of superheroes as they try to figure out how their father died.
Murdoch Mysteries – Season 12
Starring Yannick Bisson, Hélène Joy, and Jonny Harris, Murdoch Mysteries will be in Toronto this July filming for season twelve. This Canadian drama series follows Toronto-based detective William Murdoch as he solves crime during the 1890’s and early 1900’s.
