12 Movember events to check out this month in Toronto

Nov 9 2016, 3:14 am

Looking at all the awkward moustaches out there, it’s clear Movember is well underway.

The month-long initiative, which began on November 1, promotes awareness and raises funds for men’s health annually. Each November, men all over the globe grow their finest ‘stashes in solidarity and in support of the cause.

“Men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent. That’s why we’re taking action,” states the Movember Foundation. “We’re addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. In 13 years we’ve funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world. By 2030 we’ll reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25 per cent.”

In Canada, according to the 2014 campaign, there have been 115,358 participants to date, with over $24 million raised for men’s health.

While these funds are raised by individuals or groups (known as Mo Bros and Mo Sistahs), there are events throughout that month which also support Movember. Check out these upcoming Movember events in Toronto.
