There's a costumed Mermaid Ball in Toronto next month

With summer around the corner, Torontonians are looking for any excuse to get beached. Luckily, opportunities abound and among them, a Mermaid Ball, a costumed affair encouraging guests to dress up as their favourite sea creature.

The event hosted by Squid Lid points to possibilities ranging from mermaids and mermen, seahorses, crabs, squids, unicorns with flippers… whatever.

Guests are directed to Coney Island’s Mermaid Parade in New York City for inspiration which features plenty of fish net, seashell bras, fins, and other seafarer-inspired fashions.
