$2 million worth of fentanyl pills seized in Canada
A drug bust in Edmonton is being hailed as the largest Fentanyl pill seizure in Canadian history.
The investigation which started back in March 2017, led members of the Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) Unit to conduct a search on a residence in Edmonton on July 5, 2017.
During that search, police seized 67,000 fentanyl pills. To put it into perspective, that amounts to an estimated $2 million on the streets.
Investigators also searched three other Edmonton residences and a fourth in Sturgeon County.
The RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) Team, assisted at the residence in Sturgeon County, where a fentanyl pill processing lab was located. This location has now been deemed “unfit for human habitation” by Alberta Health Services.
The total quantity of drugs seized includes:
- 2.4 kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of $129,000.
- 1.8 kg of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $52,000.
- 834 – 1gram packages of cannabis extract (shatter) with an estimated street value of $58,000.
- 130,000 fentanyl pills with an estimated street value of $3.9 Million.
- 4 oz. of carfentanil with an estimated street value of $14,000.
- 658 grams of fentanyl laced powders with an estimated street value of $115,000.
- Approximately 100 kg of buffing agents.
Along with the drugs, more than 1 million dollars in cash, four large cement mixers, two pill presses, and a 2001 Ford F-150 with a hidden compartment were seized.
