The Halal Guys announce opening date for first Toronto store

The long awaited opening of The Halal Guys first outlet in Toronto has finally been announced.

The food cart turned fast food chain originated in NYC in the ’90s and has since amassed a cult-like following. Its menu is popular for sandwiches and platters packed with chicken and/or gyro.

Doors to the first Toronto location are slated to open at 11 am on Friday, May 5.

“We are extremely excited to be opening in Toronto,” shares Imran Momin, co-owner of the Toronto franchise in a press release, “The demand for The Halal Guys from people who have experienced our food has been very strong, and we are thrilled to not only be able to serve people who already love our food, but to also introduce our brand to new customers, as well.”

The Yonge Street location will be the first outlet in Toronto but it certainly won’t be the last. The group of franchise owners (and cousins) Imran Momin, Alveen Momin and Averroes Momin, have already announced intentions to open several locations throughout GTA in the coming years.
