Director X fans are invited out to an evening of hip-hop beats and dance to celebrate the internationally renowned Canadian film and music video director’s induction into the Brampton Arts Walk of Fame. The Brampton native will be honoured for his contributions and achievements in the arts and entertainment industry, for building pride in the Brampton community, and inspiring emerging artists and creators.
Open to the public, the induction celebration will feature live entertainment, DJs and visual displays that pay homage to Director X’s iconic body of work and distinctive aesthetic as well as special tributes and surprise guests, hosted by friend and rap emcee Kardinal Offishall.
The Brampton Arts Walk of Fame Induction will not only serve as a celebration of his career, but will also shine a spotlight on hip-hop culture in Brampton, including a performances by DJ Starting from Scratch along with hometown rising stars Fateh Doe and Haviah Mighty.
Director X, born Julien Christian Lutz, is known for directing high-budget, visually distinctive videos for popular artists such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, and many more. His work has been nominated and awarded by the MTV Music Video Awards, BET Awards and Much Music Video Awards. He is also an acclaimed film director having won Best Feature at the Atlantic Film Festival for his directorial debut, “Across the Line,” and recently premiered a remake of the iconic ‘blaxploitation’ film “Superfly”.
Tickets start are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and are available for purchase from The Rose box office and online at www.rosetheatre.ca. The event is open to the public.
