In celebration of the upcoming International Museums Day (May 18), the Aga Khan Museum is pleased to present a free talk with Michael Edson, co-founder, Associate Director, and Head of Digital for the Museum for the United Nations. Edson will share his insights on the social mission of museums in the global space, and what happens when institutions commit to breaking down stereotypes and building bridges.
As a digital strategist and thought leader in the cultural sector, and the former Director of Web and New Media Strategy for the Smithsonian Institution, Edson will explore the changing identity and role of museums in a rapidly transforming world, and the vision for UN Live, a new multi-platform institution aimed at connecting people everywhere to the work and values of the United Nations.
Related to the Aga Khan Museum’s “Changing Perceptions” initiatives, Michael’s lecture will focus on the power of art and culture to shift perceptions and lay the foundation for a more pluralistic global society.
Visitors who come early can explore the galleries at no cost, as admission to the Museum and all exhibitions is free every Wednesday from 4 pm to 8 pm. For more information, please visit https://www.agakhanmuseum.org.
