Packaged salads recalled across Canada due to Listeria
Health Canada has issued a national recall on Eat Smart brand’s Salad Shake Ups in Sweet Kale due to possible Listeria contamination.
This announcement comes close behind the country-wide recalls of romaine lettuce and tahini because of possible e. Coli and Salmonella contamination, respectively.
The products listed below should not be consumed:

There have been no reported illnesses from the product at this time; the recall comes after Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results.
Symptoms of Listeria can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth.
Severe cases of the illness can lead to death.
You can’t see, smell or taste Listeria on food so it’s difficult to know if a product is contaminated. To avoid illness, throw away recalled products or return them to the place of purchase.
