A dramatic deer rescue was captured on camera over the weekend.

In a series of videos shared by the OPP North East, firefighters are seen rescuing a deer that had fallen through the ice near Whitefish, which is located southwest of Sudbury.

The deer fell in the Vermillion River, and the OPP said they contacted the Greater Sudbury Fire Services for assistance.

The videos show the firefighters on a dinghy, and at one point, one of the firefighters jumps into the river and they are seen using a hook to latch on to the deer.

They are able to rescue the deer and bring the little one back to shore, and they watch as it gallops back into the woods.
