It’s almost time. The CNE’s gates are opening in two days, and with it comes the new spectacular indoor lantern festival.

From August 17 to September 3, the CNE will come to life in a brand new way.

The captivating Legends of the Silk Road Lantern Festival will feature a series of 17 illuminated sculpture installations, creating a luminous kaleidoscope of colour.

The beautiful lanterns are themed around legends and myths associated with the ancient Silk Road, creating an exploratory experience for all.

The displays were created by 90 artists using 4,000 metres of synthetic silk, 55 metres of steel, and arrived in eight shipping containers that travelled more than 12,000 km from China to Toronto.

The indoor lantern festival is located throughout the Enercare Centre’s Hall D for visitors to enjoy every day of the fair.

Here’s your first look at the glowing festival.
