The Calgary Police Service and Ontario’s Durham Regional Police Service have confirmed six missing children from Calgary were located just east of Toronto on Wednesday, October 26.
Calgary Police say they received a report on Monday, October 24 from a woman who believed her common law partner had left the province with her six children. The CPS Domestic Conflict Unit was called in to assist, but no amber alert was issued because the children were not believed to be in danger.
On Wednesday, October 26, Durham Police stopped a vehicle in the area of Waverly Road and Baseline Road driving a green SUV with an Alberta licence plate. The car was recognized as the vehicle involved in a parental abduction investigation reported in Calgary.
Durham Police arrested a 49-year-old man from Calgary on a Canada-wide warrant. His name is not being released by either police departments to protect the identity of the children. Calgary Police have confirmed the man was not the children’s legal guardian and are investigating the exact relationship between the children and the man.
Six children were found inside the SUV ranging from 18 months to 11 years of age and were moved to a safe location. Calgary Police say their Domestic Conflict Unit is working to coordinate their return.
