The next time you travel through Billy Bishop Airport, you’ll notice a few free perks are missing.
The complimentary coffee and snack mix that hungry travellers have grown to love are no longer available, according to Rebecca Thompson, a spokesperson for Nieuport Aviation, the company that owns and operates the passenger terminal at Billy Bishop.
But not all is lost, travellers are still able to enjoy free cookies and bottled water while they wait to board their flights.
Thompson says the changes are part of a new terminal upgrade that includes three new restaurants, retail stores, and a duty-free shop.
When word got out about the changes earlier this week, Toronto collectively lost its damn mind and did not hold back on social media with its disappointment.
@Nieuport Disappointed with no more free coffee, more focus on paid options. I liked Billy Bishop because it was different and treated people humanely. Now you’re just like any other business.

The. Snacks. Are. Gone. There really is no free lunch anymore – nor is there free coffee at Billy Bishop…. woe is me…

@porterairlines Please let the record show I’m disappointed by the elimination of free coffee & shortbreads at Billy Bishop. It was a really special value-add that made air travel not feel like being herded cattle!

Thank you for that clarification 🙂 @Nieuport – you realize this was the one thing that everybody I’ve ever worked with has actually liked about Billy Bishop? Nobody has said “Geez you know what would be great? Paying for more stuff instead of the great free coffee!”

However, disgruntled passengers will be happy to know that Porter is still offering complimentary beer, wine and snacks on board its flights.
Nobody asked for more expensive choices at the airport. Torontonians want their free sugar cookies and coffee at Billy Bishop. First you took the almonds and now this? Let’s be honest here and not hide behind
