This year’s Big Drone Show will also feature a two-day “hackathon” that is designed to showcase some of the amazingly talented people involved in the Canadian drone industry, encourage the sharing of new and exciting ideas in the community, and ultimately drive new innovation in the drone industry.

The Big Drone Show is the premier drone event in Canada, providing an all-encompassing view of the industry and the immense value drones can bring to commercial businesses.

The speakers at the event will cover various industries where drones are changing the way businesses traditionally operate, with heavy representation in oil and gas, utilities, energy, construction, engineering, agriculture and mining.

Guest speakers at The Big Drone Show include Jon Gaster, CEO of KSI Data Sciences; Kenneth Kranz, chief technical architect of Cognizant Drone Venture; and Jeremey Wang, chief technology officer of Defiant Labs. View full speaker list here.

As an exciting addition to this year’s show there will be the first ever Toronto Drone Film Festival which will highlight the best in aerial cinematography.

The Toronto Drone Film Festival offers an international platform for filmmakers to showcase their work in front of industry professionals ,the drone community, and an extensive media network.

Winners will be rewarded with cash prizes and giveaways from event sponsors. Submissions close September 15, so get yours in quick for your chance to win!

Exhibitors will range from manufacturers and service providers, to wholesalers and other periphery industries who provide products or services to the UAV space.

The event will also host a live hackathon to showcase some of the young up-and-coming talent in the Toronto tech space. As the drone industry moves from raw data to deeper insights, data analytics will play a major role. Using GPUs, quadcopters, and a simulated urban environment, can you build an AI to classify objects and features seen from a drone? Prizes will be available.

You’ll find a business-to-business meeting zone in partnership with MeetMax Event Software Solutions at the show where you can get mingling with other attendees and talk tech. And to make it even better, you’ll be granted access to schedule one-on-one meetings with all exhibiting companies. Every exhibiting company will also have the chance to chat with conference speakers and qualified buyers, in the comfort of the private VIP lounge, where you’ll find hosts and a coffee service.
