3-week-old baby dies after aggravated assault in Scarborough

A baby has died following an aggravated assault in Scarborough.

According to Toronto Police, on Thursday, October 18, at approximately 10:51 am, officers responded to a call at 263 Pharmacy Avenue.

When police arrived, paramedics were treating a three-week-old infant with obvious signs of trauma. The infant was rushed to hospital and placed on life support.

Yesterday, on October 21, the infant succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Police arrested 29-year-old Matthew Bouffard, who was charged with Aggravated Assault.

His charges will be re-evaluated pending the results of the post-mortem examination, scheduled for October 22.
