A robotics lab, a river-side run, and a makers’ hub. These could be your next Toronto staycation… or maybe your next side hustle.

Airbnb just launched trips in Toronto. The previously announced Trips platform allows locals to lend their expertise and play tour guide on pre-paid adventures throughout The 6ix.

The bookable Experiences aim to offer visitors to Toronto “unprecedented access to insider experiences” hosted by passionate locals.

In a press release, Airbnb describes Trips as,

A way to experience a different side of the city, immersing themselves in local communities. While for cities, it can help to diversify tourism away from busy city centres and allow local people to participate and benefit from tourism by sharing skills and making a little extra money from their interests and passions. Trips is also a great way for local residents to discover new things to do and meet new people.

In Toronto, the newly launched platform currently offers 11 Toronto Experiences though the plan is to eventually offer expanded features in key areas including meet-ups, places, guidebooks and flights.
