Daily Hive is seeking a Junior Branded Content Writer to join Hive Labs, Daily Hive’s Branded Content division. This is an opportunity to work alongside a fast-growing team inside one of Canada’s largest online publications, with significant opportunities for growth and professional development. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with a talent for writing unique, compelling content for a millennial audience. Reporting to the Managing Editor, Branded Content, you’ll be a key player in day-to-day content production for the company’s entire branded content business.

Responsibilities

  • Write multiple articles per day, maintaining a high standard of writing for all projects.
  • Ensure content is original and accurate through copy- and fact-checking.
  • Work on multiple client campaigns and articles simultaneously.
  • Revise and edit articles as required.
  • Source creative commons and stock imagery to support content creation.
  • Conduct necessary research required to produce content, which may include but is not limited to conducting interviews and attending events.
  • Monitor engagement of articles and accept feedback from the Hive Labs team in order to make necessary improvements or adjustments to work.
  • Brainstorm and present a wide selection of creative ideas for client campaigns.
  • Collaborate with and support the Managing Editor, Branded Content on all projects.
  • Work directly with, and learn from, the Senior Branded Writer.

What you have

  • Degree or diploma in English, journalism, communications, or relevant field.
  • At least one year of online writing experience.
  • Writing samples showcasing your writing within digital news, advertising, features, and more.
  • Excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
  • A high level of accuracy, organization, and creativity while maintaining close attention to detail.
  • A large reference pool of knowledge about local culture, pop culture, and a variety of topics as diverse as our client base.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, and always willing to learn.
  • Comfortable interviewing clients remotely or in person.
  • A proven track record in high productivity and meeting deadlines.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with the use of WordPress or similar web publishing platforms.
  • Skilled with photography, graphic design, and photo editing is an asset.
  • Excellent understanding of social media.
  • Creative muscles and ability to think outside of the box.
  •  Excellent organizational and time management skills—ability to perform in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
