Daily Hive has an opportunity for a creative and ambitious individual to join our Video Department as a videographer/photographer. Reporting to our Head of Video, you will be a key player in the production of our network’s photo and video content.
About the role
This is a contract position in Toronto, with the potential for full-time growth.
We are looking for a resourceful, imaginative, entrepreneurial content creator who can work closely with a small team to provide both editorial photography and build fun, creative videos for people to like and share across our platforms.
Content may include social video: a mix of explainers, hosted segments, original series, special features, and branded collaborations.
About you
You’re energetic, motivated, and personable, curious, innovative, driven, and flexible – and all in the face of deadlines. You have the ability to organize your time and have a solid understanding of how long your projects will take. The ideal candidate will take ownership of a project from the beginning of pre-production through post-production, while working with local and national producers.
You create with purpose and intention: you ask a lot of questions but can also find the answers yourself. Brainstorming and developing new ideas, you look to tell stories in new and different ways. You stay up to date on technical developments and apply new skills to work practices to help improve work-flow and quality.
You regularly use social media platforms like Instagram Stories, Facebook, and YouTube.
You are responsible for providing your own gear and equipment, including but not limited to, camera, mics and lights.
Responsibilities
- Delivering journalistic and lifestyle photography, set by editors.
- Producing videos quickly (including same-day edits), set by producer and/or client.
- Working with a busy, small team with the focus of sourcing, editing, and packaging video content to the highest standard.
- Demonstrating strong and fluent editorial techniques through proper timing, pacing, organization sound design, and asset management within a timeline.
- Working flexible hours including nights and weekends when required.
Qualifications
- Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premiere/After Effects/Lightroom/Photoshop.
- Creating content with a variety of video equipment including: DSLR cameras, lenses, mobile devices.
