Week 14 NFL Picks: Cardinals will soar in Miami

Dec 8 2016, 8:41 am

It was another good week for us last week, going 10-4 overall and 4-1 on the premium picks. This week, we’re riding the momentum from the Cardinals’ strong performance last week to win their second straight game.

Fans United

Here are this week’s NFL picks:

5 picks of the week

1. Arizona Cardinals @ Miami Dolphins -2

Our Pick: Cardinals +2

After making the NFC Championship game last year, the Cardinals have tailed off this year falling to 5-6-1, with their playoff hopes looking dull. With that being said, they’re defence is starting to look strong again and they’ve simplified the offence to just get David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald the ball. This plan worked great for them as they were able to beat a very good Washington Redskins team last week.

The Dolphins had a good stretch of straight wins, but they were exposed last week for what they really are, a very mediocre team. With the Cardinals strong defence, we’re expecting them to slow down Jay Ajayi and force Ryan Tannehill into some tough passes. It should be a tight game but the Cardinals win to get them back to .500.

2. Atlanta Falcons @ Los Angeles Rams +6

Our Pick: Falcons -6

It’s been a rough start for Rams rookie quarterback Jared Goff as he was thrown to the Wolves in his first few games of his NFL career. He’s had to face Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and now Matt Ryan and Atlanta’s high flying offence. It’s tough for any offence to keep up with these QBs, especially a rookie.

The Falcons are coming off a very tough loss where they lost on a failed two-point conversion which lead to an interception return for a ‘Pick 2’. They looked solid against the Chiefs elite defence and should have no problem putting up points against the Rams.

The Falcons are just a much better team and are fighting for the division. Expect them to easily beat the fading Rams.

3. Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles +0.5

Our Pick: Redskins -0.5

After a hot start by the Eagles, they’ve come back down to earth and fallen back in the playoff picture at 5-7. They’ve lost some key pieces on offence with Ryan Mathews and Jordan Matthews being hobbled. It doesn’t look good for the Eagles although they have found their QB of the future in Carson Wentz.

The Redskins started the season 0-2 but now sit at 6-5-1 and right in the thick of things for a wildcard spot. It starts with a win here as they can’t afford to drop back in the race. Both teams are going to score here, but we like the upward trending Washington Redskins to win.

4. Denver Broncos @ Tennessee Titans +1

Our Pick: Broncos -1

The Denver broncos are 8-4 but they’re sitting in third place in their division and can’t afford to fall any further back. It’s a tough spot for them as starting QB Trevor Siemian was out last week and hasn’t practiced yet this week. He’s supposed to get in a limited session on Thursday so we’re expecting him to get the go ahead this Sunday in Tennessee.

The Titans have surprised us this year by playing some really good football. They have some weapons on offence but are running into one of the best defences in the league in Denver. If the Broncos want to stay alive in the division race, they know they can’t afford to lose to a .500 Titans squad.

With or without Siemian, the Broncos D should carry them to a close victory.

5. Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills +2

Our Pick: Steelers -2

The Steelers are in a tight battle with the Ravens for the division lead and this might be their chance to leapfrog them as Baltimore travels to Foxborough to play the Patriots.

The return of Ladarius Green has opened up the field for the Steelers and given Ben Roethlisberger a second weapon after Antonio Brown. The Bills will likely put Stephon Gilmore on Brown, with some safety help over top, which will leave the middle of the field open for the Green.

The Bills have been too inconsistent this year to justify backing them. They played the Raiders well for the first half last week but then fell apart in the second. They’ll likely put a better effort forth at home but the Steelers are too talented and too desperate to give one up here.
