Another blast of winter is on its way to Montreal.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for snow followed by freezing rain on Saturday.

“Snowfall amounts between 5 and 10 centimetres is expected today through Saturday, and will potentially be followed by mixed precipitation,” said Environment Canada in a statement.

“A developing low pressure system over the central U.S. will track toward New England. Snow associated with this system will develop this afternoon over Southern Quebec and is should continue overnight. Precipitation may change to freezing rain early Saturday over Southern Quebec.”

The warning is in effect for:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area

“The area affected by freezing precipitation will depend on the track of the system, which is still uncertain. Regions south of the St. Lawrence River will be the most at risk,” said Environment Canada.

Stay warm and dry out there!
