Uber founder Travis Kalanick gives up driver's seat as company CEO

Jun 22 2017, 12:56 am

The topic of who will drive Uber into the future is very real after the company’s founder Travais Kalanick announced he is stepping down as CEO, but will remain on the board of directors.

Kalanick’s decision was confirmed to Daily Hive by a media spokesperson via email, who shared a statement from the company’s board of directors on his decision as well:

Travis has always put Uber first. This is a bold decision and a sign of his devotion and love for Uber.

By stepping away, he’s taking the time to heal from his personal tragedy while giving the company room to fully embrace this new chapter in Uber’s history.

We look forward to continuing to serve with him on the board.
