Trump 'accidentally' supports NAFTA in new tweet

Jun 13 2018, 8:58 pm

In a move no one saw coming, especially Canada, US President Donald Trump tweeted words of support for NAFTA.

After lashing out at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau onĀ TwitterĀ and calling him ā€œvery dishonestā€ and ā€œweak,ā€ the US President seems happy with Canada again.

And the reason for Trump’s surprising delight? Sports.

On Wednesday, it was officially confirmed that the United Bid, which includes Canada, Mexico, and the US, would be hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026.

According toĀ Canada Soccer, todayā€™s vote marks the first time three nations have been selected to co-host a FIFA World Cup and the first time the FIFA World Cup will be played in North America in 32 years.

Clearly, this happy occasion was enough to make Trump forget about his recent Twitter tirades, and say something that wasn’t negative.

“The US, together with Mexico and Canada, just got the World Cup,” the President tweeted. “Congratulations – a great deal of hard work.”

Interesting, considering he seems to admit to hard work in terms of sports, with the same countries that he is constantly complaining about when it comes to NAFTA.

You know, the same countries he called “very difficult.”

Days ago, he called Trudeau “very dishonest and weak.”

And he still wants a wall built between the US and Mexico…

Trump’s supportive Wednesday tweet left us confused.

Someone may want to remind Trump that Mexico and Canada are part of NAFTA…
