14 people injured in shooting at Toronto's Greektown district

UPDATE: A second victim has died, and the shooter has been identified as a 29-year-old man. Read the update here.


UPDATE at 12:47 am Monday EDT: Toronto Police have updated the number of victims to 14, not including the deceased shooter.

One female adult victim has died, and one young girl is in critical condition. All victims were shot with a handgun.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call Toronto Police Homicide overnight at 416-808-5504. At the start of Monday’s business day, tips from witnesses should be directed to Toronto Police’s hotline at 416-808-5504.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A mass shooting in Toronto’s Greektown district on Sunday evening injured nine people and resulted in the death of the shooter.

According to Toronto Police, at approximately 10 pm EDT, officers were called to the area of the intersection of Danforth Avenue and Logan Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting.

Police say at least nine victims have been shot, and they have been rushed to hospital for treatment. A young girl is one of the victims, but the conditions of the other victims are not known.

The shooter is dead, according to police.

The area is shut down to all traffic, and a heavy police presence remains.
