Improved customer service and an updated bus system are some of the main initiatives for the STM’s 2025 Strategic Plan.

The plan, which was revealed on August 29, outlines the steps STM will take to improve Montreal’s transit system by 2025.

The STM has six main initiatives to meet its 2025 goal:

  • An unprecedented improvement in métro service
  • An updated bus system
  • An improved paratransit service and a more accessible transit system
  • Investments of $8 B for reliable, quality service
  • A solution to the issues with major road works
  • A renewed mobility

The STM is also promising to replace 38 current trains with new Azur trains, a new garage at Côte-Vertu, more hybrid buses, and an extension of the Blue Line.

“Transit users want to experience a pleasant ride, easy transfers between modes, better frequency of service, on-time arrivals, quality information for customers, integration with new technologies and greater accessibility,” said STM chief executive officer, Luc Tremblay, in a release.

“In short, customers are looking for excellence, from start to finish. STM understands that and is doing what it takes to do so.”
