Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement in effect for the Greater Montreal area as of 1:35 pm on Wednesday, August 8.
Montreal is slated to be hit with heavy showers and thunderstorms that are slated to develop in the late afternoon until the evening. According to the website, the storms are moving slowly which could give significant amount of rain in localizes areas.
Châteauguay, La Prairie, Longueuil and the island of Montreal are the districts in the storm’s path.
The heavy downpours can result in flash floods and ponding on the roads.
The Weather Network is reporting that the humidex values will also remain high, between 34°C – 36°C.
Montrealers should be wary of the statement as it’s the same intense storm that caused torrential downpour, flooding, and power outages in Toronto last night.
