Saskatchewan RCMP announce arrest made in Humboldt bus crash case

Saskatchewan RCMP has announced that an arrest has been made in connection to the Humboldt bus crash, that killed 16 people.

“Tune in at 1:00 p.m. today for an announcement regarding an arrest made in relation to the investigation into the fatal collision involving the Humboldt Broncos on April 6, 2018,” said Saskatchewan RCMP in a statement.

The bus carrying players and coaching staff from the Saskatchewan Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team was hit by a semi-trailer on Friday, April 6.

The crash killed 16 people, including the bus driver and 14 others were injured.

Police say there were 29 people onboard the bus, which was en route to Nipawin for a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League semifinals playoff game, when the crash took place about 30 km north of Tisdale, Saskatchewan.

A GoFundMe page set up to raise funds to support players and families affected by the crash received over $15.1 million dollars in donations, making it the second largest GoFundMe campaign to take place on the fundraising website globally.
