Montrealers who use both public transit and the city’s bike-sharing system, rejoice!

The STM just announced that Montrealers can now pay for a Bixi bike with their OPUS card.

Once users have registered their OPUS card on the Bixi website, they can use their card to pay for single Bixi trips at any one of the 540 docking stations in the city.

To make your life insanely more convenient, all you have to do is go to the Bixi website and register your OPUS card. You’ll then be prompted to create a security code which you will be asked to input at each Bixi terminal whenever you want to rent a bike.

When creating your account, you’ll also have to enter your credit card information, however, once validated, you will no longer be charged the $100 security deposit whenever you borrow a bike. Instead, you’ll only be charged $2.95, the cost of a single ride under 30 minutes.

If you currently have a monthly or seasonal Bixi pass, you will, however, need to continue using your Bixi key, as the OPUS card integration only applies to single trips of 30 minutes or less.

What are you waiting for? Click here to register your OPUS card on the Bixi website.
