Pink water is flowing out of faucets in Alberta town (VIDEO)
Residents of a town in Alberta were shocked to see bring pink water flowing out of their faucets Monday night without any notice from officials.
The town of Onoway says the pink colour in the water is due to potassium permanganate filtering into the reservoir during normal line flushing, assuring that residents were never at risk.
On the town’s facebook page a status update was posted addressing the situation.

Onoway’s mayor Dale Krasnow released a statement Tuesday, March 7 apologizing for the lack of communication to residents.
“We were never advised by Alberta Environment to issue a public advisory and all indications are that there was never a public health risk. Could the Town have done a better job of communicating what was going on yesterday to our community – absolutely, without a doubt. And we do apologize for that. This is a situation we can certainly learn from and develop a strategy for better response and communication should we ever face the same or similar situation in the future.”
Located 50 kilometres northwest of Edmonton, Onoway has approximately 1,000 residents.
