West Island town cancels Canada Day parade due to expected heat
Sorry Pierrefonds, your Canada Day parade is cancelled.
It is expected to be dangerously hot in Montreal this weekend. With temperatures slated to be in the mid to high 30s and humidex values expected to reach the 40s, Pierrefonds has elected to take a safe route by not taking the route at all.
Due to the extreme heat wave forecast by Environment Canada and as a precautionary measure for the health and safety of participants, spectactors and borough employees, the Canada Day Parade is cancelled. For more information: https://t.co/pHxEBHGgkQ pic.twitter.com/U6I6FNTQeC

The parade was scheduled to depart from Riverdale High School at 10 am and complete a 4 km, 2-hour circuit.
The measures were taken to ensure the safety of the parade’s guests and participants.
The evening’s post-parade activities are still slated to take place as scheduled.
