5 of the best cafés in Montreal where you can bring your dog

Jul 7 2017, 2:49 am

The sun is blazing so it’s the perfect time for you to take your four-legged friend on a walk.

You walk around the local park. You visit your friend’s house. You hit up the pet store. And now you’re both ready to sit down.

You want a coffee and Rolo wants his bone. It’s the usual situation. But you’re not ready to go home yet. You want to make the most of your day out, with Rolo by your side.

As it happens, many of the cafés you try to enter won’t let you in with your white coated pomeranian. That’s when it hits you. You need to visit a place that will welcome both you and your dog.

To help make things easier on your next doggy day out, we’ve compiled a list of five dog-friendly places where both you and your pooch can catch some downtime.

Le Doggy Café

Located in the heart of the Plateau on St Denis Street, this restaurant is the only eatery that welcomes both humans and their canine companions indoors in Montreal. That’s right, you don’t have to leave your dog tied outside here as their welcome to come in and roam around the space. Oh, and you can choose a treat from the homemade dog biscuit menu for your best pal.

Pain d’Épi

Hit up this café when you have the urge for a sweet freshly-baked pastry and indulge in the sun with your pooch at your feet. Its central location on Saint Antoine Street means that you can easily walk there if you live downtown. Oh, and they serve up arguably some of the best croissants and oven-baked baguettes in town. Remember to bring something along for Rolo if he’s not a fan of bread.

Brasseur de Montréal

Okay, so sometimes as an adult you might want a stronger beverage than coffee after you walk the dog. But there’s no reason that Rolo can’t come along with you. Brasseur de Montréal is a trendy microbrewery located on Ottawa Street that boasts a massive terrace where you can soak up the sunshine together. You can order a craft brew for yourself and a water for Rolo as the sun sets. Ahh, the life.

Café M

This quaint café is located on 24 Pins Avenue and it’s the perfect place to wind down after a long day of walking with your pooch. Sit out on the cute outdoor patio with your dog and make the most of your summer day. If coffee isn’t your thing, you can choose from a selection of fresh salads, stacked croissants, oven-baked muffins and much more at this coffee shop.
