He may have left the team, but P.K. Subban’s heart and soul remains in Montreal.

Prior to the start of the Montreal Canadiens’ season last year, Subban made a commitment to the Montreal Children’s Hospital. His commitment, a $10-million pledge to the Hospital’s Foundation. And earlier this summer, Subban’s surprise trade was announced to the Nashville Predator. But just because he’s left the city, does not mean he left his commitment behind.

On August 3, Subban tweeted his heartfelt letter to the patients at the Children’s Hospital. He confirmed his commitment will continue, and said that he would be back for more visits to the hospital. ““Your positivity and attitude continues to inspire me every day. You might think that I’m doing so much for you, but the truth is you do so much more for me,” he wrote. “But just because I have a new address doesn’t mean that my commitment to you and to the hospital is going to change one bit.”

“To all my friends at the hospital, almost one year ago I decided to make one of the biggest commitments of my life,” Subban writes. “It all started with individual or team visits, but it very quickly became a $10-million commitment. I did this with the intention of helping you all through your daily battles and making a measurable impact on the community of Montreal. Since I arrived in Montreal six years ago I have felt a connection to the hospital. Each and every time I had the chance to meet one of you I got the opportunity to be inspired by your stories, courage and perseverance.

Your positivity and attitude continues to inspire me every day. You might think that I’m doing so much for you, but the truth is you do so much more for me. You can’t imagine how important it is to watch you get better and leave the hospital with your families. But just because I have a new address doesn’t mean that my commitment to you and to the hospital is going to change one bit. But even while living in Nashville I still expect Valentine’s Day letters, virtual hugs and spontaneous songs. In return, I will never stop fundraising or raising awareness for all of you.

And don’t worry, I’ll be back for many more surprise visits with all my love and best wishes.

Love you guys.”
