Need to know what is open and closed in Montreal over the holidays?

We’ve got all the information you need. Remember before heading out, it’s always best to check a location’s hours on its website or give them a call.

Happy holidays!

City of Montreal offices

  • From December 22, 2017, to January 2, 2018, most of will be closed including borough offices and  Accès Montréal offices

Garbage and recycling collection:

  • Collection services will be carried out following a modified schedule in all boroughs
  • Check the modified schedules here

The Ecocentres

  • The Ecocentres will be from December 24, 2017, to January 1, 2018

Sports and cultural facilities

  • All arenas, sports centres, libraries, and cultural centres have varied schedules over the holidays. The City of Montreal advises residents to contact specific facilities directly or check schedules online before visiting
  • The Claude-Robillard Sports Complex will be closed from December 24 to 26, and 31 as well  January 1, 2018. Closing hours will be modified during the holiday season: 8 pm on weekdays and 6 pm on weekends
  • Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Museum of Archeology and History, will be closed on December 25 and January 1. The museum will be open from noon to 5 pm on December 26 and January 2, but will be open according to the usual schedule December 24, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31

Space for Life

  • Montreal’s Biôdome, Insectarium, Botanical Garden and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium will be closed on December 24 and 25, but open on December 31 and January 1. Visit the website espacepourlavie.ca for more information

Municipal courts

  • The Municipal Court, located at 775 Gosford Street, will be closed from December 22 to January 2
  • Other areas of service including 303, Notre-Dame East will be closed from December 22 to 26 but open on December 27 and 28. Further closures will take place from December 29 to January 2

Public Markets

  • Public markets will be closed on December  25 and 26 and January 1 and 2. However, they will be open on their usual schedule on the other days, except December 24 and 31, as closing is scheduled for 5 pm
  • The Bonsecours Market (350 Saint-Paul Street East) will be closed on December 25th and January 1st

SAQ

SAQ 

  • These are the holiday hours for the SAQ:
  • December 24 and 31: Open until 5 pm, express open until 7 pm
  • December 25 and January 1: Closed
  • December 26: Open at 1 pm and January 2: Open from 1 pm

Parking

  • Payment terminals remain in service during the 2017-2018 holiday season and that parking signs must also be respected at all times

Tree collection

  • Christmas tree collection will occur after the holidays. Residents can leave their trees in front of their homes  before 7:00 am on the day of the Christmas tree collection
