Disney is not cutting ties with Netflix Canada.

This according to a representative of the global streaming company.

The news of Disney leaving Netflix came after the company acquired a new video streaming service, which will have its own Disney-branded “direct-to-consumer” streaming starting in 2019. In the Walt Disney Company’s statement regarding the acquisition, “With this strategic shift, Disney will end its distribution agreement with Netflix for subscription streaming of new releases, beginning with the 2019 calendar year theatrical slate.”

But that’s not the case in Canada.

“We can confirm that the 2019 Disney film loss will be US only and won’t have any impact on whatever Disney movies Netflix may have under separate deals in international markets, including Canada,” said the Netflix rep.

Further, a statement from Netflix confirms that Disney films on the service will be available through the end of 2019 in the US.

“We continue to do business with the Walt Disney Company globally on many fronts, including our ongoing relationship with Marvel TV,” read the statement.

So no need to binge on Disney north of the border, it’s sticking around. Unless of course you just feel like binging on Disney films, then hakuna matata to you.
