A Montreal native and mother of three was one of dozens badly injured when a car plowed through a pedestrian area of Times Square on May 18th.

The 38-year-old woman, Elena Avetisian, remains in a coma and is suffering from head wounds and a broken pelvis.

Avetisian was in New York over the long weekend for her cousin’s wedding, and the day before the celebration, she had decided to visit Time Square.

Since the accident, she has been in critical condition. Her cousin, Anna, created a Go Fund Me page to try and raise money for not only her medical care, but also so that her husband and sister can travel back and forth between New York and Montreal, where her three daughters are staying with their grandmother.

The official message on the Go Fund Me page reads, “My beautiful cousin, Elena Avetisian, is fighting for her life right now. She was hit by a monster on May 18, 2017 in Times Square. She was visiting NY to attend my wedding and the day before decided to visit Times Square, little did she know this trip would alter her life forever. Elena lives in Montreal, Quebec and has 3 beautiful girls.”

So far, nearly 500 people have donated a total of $26,000.
