Wednesday snuck up on us pretty quickly, but we’ve got 5 things to do today, August 15, as we set our sights towards the end of the workweek.

Country Dancing Class at Montreal Pride

Club Bolo is a country dancing club and as part of the Montreal Pride festival, they will be performing a free show to classic country music and authentic costumes.

After the show, Club Bolo will offer a beginners-level line dance class to help express your inner cowboy or cowgirl.

When: Wednesday, August 15

The International Balloon Festival

The International Balloon Festival of Saint Jean-sur-Richelieu is the largest gathering of balloons in Canada. The week-long event caters to the entire family and is an easy 40-minute drive off the island of Montreal.

In what started off as a balloon festival, the event has grown to host food vendors, bar outlets, live bands, theatre performances, activities and has garnered a reputation on an international scale. This year’s outdoor party will feature hot air balloons from Canada, the United States, France and Brazil.

When: From now until August 19
Time: Weekdays from 2:30 pm – the end of the show, weekends from 12 pm – the end of the show

Angry Lobster Oysters

The Angry Lobster Oyster Bar offers $2 oysters every Wednesday during their 5-7 happy hour.

The up-scale seafood spot, in the heart of downtown, has a gorgeous terrace, an impressive cocktail and Scotch menu, and very tasty seafood meals. Even if you don’t make it in time for the oysters, the view is well worth supper and/or drinks.

Shane Murphy at Honey Martin Pub

Shane Murphy is one of the best musicians in Montreal. He’s fresh off an appearance at Jazz Fest and he’ll be performing at Honey Martin Pub in NDG tonight.

He’s silky smooth on the guitar and has a soothing and hip voice. He plays covers and original pieces, considering it’s free entrance to watch him – it’s an absolute steal.

When: Wednesday, August 15
Time: Honey Martin Pub opens at 3 pm, Shane Murphy starts at 10 pm and goes until 3 am

McKibbin’s Irish Pub Hooley Night

McKibbin’s Irish Pub hosts their “Hooley Night” every Wednesday. Ladies pay $10 at the door, gentlemen pay $25, then it’s an open bar – all you can drink. The bar offers Moosehead beer, vodka, gin, rum, rye and whiskey as part of the special. The third floor features a dance floor and a DJ.

There’s no better drink deal on a Wednesday in the city, if you’re free tomorrow, take advantage.
