Making us proud.

Montreal’s own Marche Ferdous has done the unthinkable: offering free food to anyone you can’t afford to pay for a meal. No questions asked.

Last month, a Facebook post went viral showing a photo of Marche Ferdous’ door with a sign reading “People with no money welcome to eat free.”

Since then, several people have claimed that not only does the Middle Eastern eatery give out free food, but it does so without hesitation. If someone walks in and says they cannot pay, they are immediately handed a plate of hot food, without question.

Many have taken to the restaurant’s Facebook page, flooding them with kind words and gratitude.

Whether you know someone in need or want to give the people behind Marche Ferdous some business for their kind and generous gesture, you can find them at 1451 Rue Sainte Catherine Ouest (the corner of Sainte Catherine and Mackay).
