Police seize $30,000 and huge stash of narcotics from Montreal drug ring

On Wednesday, April 18, investigators from the East Montreal Police Service’s Violent Crime Module (SPVM) conducted an operation targeting a network of drug sales and trafficking in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve region.

A statement from the SPVM shares that police offers and investigators from SPVM’s East, North, and South Division, as well as specialized teams, were sent to shut down the illegal activity.

The raid is a result of an investigation which began in March 2018. Police were attempting to target a criminal organization that had been selling narcotics in the area. It is reported that the actions of the group was threatening the safety of the neighbourhood’s residents.

The SPVM’s investigation began by focusing on suspects “who operated and supplied these outlets”.

On Wednesday, nine houses and vehicles were searched in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Mercier and Pointe-aux-Trembles sectors. Police arrested nine suspects, with other arrests to follow.

All arrested suspects will appear in court at a later date. They face charges of drug trafficking, conspiracy, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
