If you live in Montreal or you plan on making your way over here for New Year’s Eve, you’ll be sitting pretty because Montreal is one of top New Year’s Eve party destinations in the world.

Apart from the massive, free party taking place in the Old Port and with so much going on in the city, we thought it might be wise to steer you in the right direction.

Keep in mind that you won’t be the only one pulling an all-nighter on the last day of 2018 as the metros will stay open all night, making it easier (and cheaper) for you to hop from bash to bash.

Here are 17 events that are worthy of considering for Monday, December 31.

Bord’Elle – A Very Gatsby NYE

Old Montreal’s 1920’s themed supper club is hosting a Great Gatsbyesque night to ring in 2019. Featuring live jazz, burlesque dancers, acrobatic animations, flapper girls, and so much glam and fizzle.

Honey Martin Pub NYE Bash

If you’re looking to party but want to stay away from all the flare (and the cover charges), Honey’s is right up your alley. It’s going to be packed (as usual), the pub will be giving out free champagne at midnight and The Lyonz will be DJing a throwback NYE set featuring disco, funk, and groove. Imagine listening to Bowie and Prince to ring in 2019.

Expect dancing on the bar.

Société des arts technologiques Dome Party

The seventh edition of the SAT’s party will celebrate the final hours of 2018, and the first hours of 2019, under the dome with DJs, lights and audiovisuals that might make you feel like you’re on another planet (the booze will also help with that).

DJs include Gold Casanova, Lexis, Pierre Kwenders, DJ Frog and Lis Dalton.

La Clef d’Or Soubois

Enjoy a lavish cocktail dinner and dance it off in Soubois’ enchantingly decorated supperclub.

Chef Guillaume Daly is putting a decadent three course meal that includes truffles scallop carpaccio, maple-glazed ora king salmon, snow crab remoulade, braised lamb, grilled octopus, and lobster spaghetti to name a few.

Welcome 2019 at the oldest bar in Montreal. L’Auberge will be offering a chic style, crystals and dinner by candlesticks before the real party cranks up at 10 pm.

Cocktails start at 7 pm, the elegant dinner at 8 pm and then DJs Christian Pronovost, Cabana and Adrien Mitchell spin beats and take care of the rest.

If you’re looking to ring in the new year in full class with a touch of history, Saint-Gabriel is for you.

New Years Eve at Ginko

Thousands of partiers from all over Canada will converge under Ginko’s roof to celebrate the new year.

The club will host bottle and booth specials with VIP services to make sure you and your pals are living the high life.

DJs will be spinning hip hop, reggaeton, top 40, house and mash-ups.

Dream Land New Year’s Eve

It’s not all about the fancy supper clubs when it comes to celebrating New Year’s. Sami Hajjar’s house in the West Island has over 200,000 lights that makes his residence look like it’s right out of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, just, nicer.

He’s focusing on Disney this year and synchronizes music to this light show every hour from 6 pm to 10 pm.

Ring in 2019 with your family by your side, taking in some Disney magic.

Tiki NYE Party

Idole is hosting a tiki-themed NYE party so you can get away from the cold and snow (almost). The bar will be serving cocktails in pineapples and will be specializing in all the Caribbean greats: piña colada, margaritas and  mojitos.

Coconuts and New Year’s Eve in Montreal? Sounds tasty.

Terrasse Nelligan is hosting a (heated) rooftop party so you can soak in as much champagne as fireworks while you stay toasty.

If your New Year’s squad pulls you to the Old Port, it’s tough to top Nelligan’s deal. Price includes access to the rooftop, a glass of bubbly and a picturesque view of the fireworks. Proposal idea, perhaps?

Vicetone  Luminous NYE – New City Gas

Guys, this one’s going to be wild.

New City Gas is a massive venue that hosts different stages and areas within one gigantic building. From the headlining DJ, Vicetone, on the main stage to dozens of other featured acts, New City Gas won’t stop bumping until 3 am (and maybe a tad after).

The event is sponsored by Dom Pérignon so expect some quality hooch.

Bloc 66 NYE Party

Bloc 66 is a 1930 industrial loft that has been turned into a techno room. Here, you’ll get all the hype of DJs and an audiovisual display, without having to break the bank.

DJs include Drugface, Thomas Von Party, Mike Haddad, Oonga, Claire, Mike Larry, Arkid-M and so much more. It’s a giant techno DJ dance party all night.

Constellations NYE Gathering 

Aioaska Productions and Agora Collective will be hosting a New Year’s Eve gathering that will feature over 40 audio and visual artists and performers working in unison to bring you a breathtaking experience.

Performing for his first time in Canada, German DJ Krumelur will be spinning beats.

An integral part of the minimal trance scene, with numerous releases spanning over 15 years, Krumelur is a very trendy underground artist.

Don’t they say whatever you’re doing on New Year’s Eve is how you’ll spend the rest of the year? Or was that just on a Hallmark card?

Regardless, ending 2018 in a relaxing fashion isn’t a bad alternative to the club scene.

Imagine sitting in a giant hot tub, overlooking the city after getting an hour-long massage on a boat.

New Year’s Eve Show – Montreal Improv

Montreal Improv is an improv-comedy school and theatre that puts on a hilarious show, especially on New Year’s Eve. This is a perfect event if you plan on hitting the bars or clubs. Get in, participate in some jokes and then hit the streets, you’re right on St-Laurent anyways.

Montreal Improv will be handing out complimentary snacks and bubbly after the show.

Bar Loïc New Year’s Eve Bash

Loïc is an über cool wine bar in St-Henri that does a lot of things right and their New Year’s Eve bash won’t be any different.

Loïc will offer the same party hype as other spots but a bit more grounded. If you want to enjoy a nice supper (their cheeseburgers and oysters are out of this world) and a nice bottle of wine before cranking the party up, Loïc is your spot.

Their resident DJs will be spinning beats throughout the evening, but not too much to annoy your dinner.

Afrodiscoteca NYE

Afrodiscoteca draws together three generations of vinyl selectors for a freewheeling journey through the Afro-tipped discotheques of the world, where disco, funk, boogie, and tropical sounds began to strobe into early electro, freestyle and house.

Sounds groovy.

McKibbin’s Irish Pub

McKibbin’s offers a little something to everyone on New Year’s Eve. The pub has three floors that appeals to any age. The basement is easy-going, the main floor has a live band and the upstairs is a dance club.

Entrance is only $10 which is good for drink deals (4 for $20 Jagerbombs, 2 for 1 vodka and tequila shots and $6 Moosehead pints) and free bubbly at midnight.

Plus, there kitchen is open until 1 am because you know, drinking.
