LeChop 2017

The 6th edition of the LeChop culinary festival is back next month.

And this year LeChop MTL wants to give back to the community. The organization has partnered with Share the Warmth to offer a delicious 2-course table d’hote menu at participating restaurants to help fight the battle against food insecurity.

Cardio on the ice with ex-Montreal Canadiens

Montreal’s beautiful Old Port skating rink is set to open this weekend and you can take the ice with some former Montreal Canadiens players. Get on your jerseys and skate amongst pros as they will help you learn basic techniques and perfect your skating, stick handling, puck control, and more.

The Art of Making Tea 

This workshop will examine the oldest form of medicine we have on this planet, the humble cup of tea. Moving outside the norms of black tea, green tea and coffee. The event will focus on the herbal medicinal teas.

Fête des Neiges

Your favourite winter festival is back. Parc Jean Drapeau’s annual Fête des neiges returns for three spectacular weeks this winter. Taking place between January 20 and February 11, the park will host a myriad of snow-themed events and activities.

Busty and the Bass

Luminothérapie

A light-up winter wonderland will be taking over Place des Festivals this winter for the eighth annual edition of Luminothérapie. This year’s display is called Impulse and it is an interactive work made up of light-up seesaws.

Hot Rhythms on Ice

Every Wednesday, the Old Port skating rink will transform into a giant Salsa dance party for its Latin Nights! Skate the night away as a guest DJ plays Latin beats all night long.

Salsafolie will also be on site to help you learn how to dance Dominican Bachata and Merengue. There will be a special dance section reserved around the rink for you practice your moves. It’s going to be the hottest party in town!

Skating in Old Port

Boasting perhaps the most picturesque rink in all of Montreal, the Bonsecours Basin outdoor skating rink will be up and running this December. Bring your own skates (and a hot date) and enjoy a magical night of skating under the stars to holiday tunes.

Visit Montreal’s man-made ski and  tubing hills 

Pente à Neige –an organization working to bring back skiing to the city by constructing man-made slopes at Parc Ignace-Bourget.

Now the slopes are open and the park includes ski and snowboard courses with a carpet lift, two slopes for tubing, a sliding trail and a free ice rink.

DJ on Ice

The Old Port of Montreal has decided to host themed nights throughout the week. While the “Workout on Ice” Tuesdays and the “Hot Rhythms on Ice” Wednesdays sound pretty cool, it’s the “DJ on Ice” Thursdays that have our attention.

DJ on Ice is the official event for nordic Thursdays. Every week, there will be hot mixes and killer beats, light shows, and magnificent backdrops.

V Winter Village

The traditional winter village at Montreal’s Olympic Park has officially returned for 2018.

From now until March 25, 2018, you can enjoy outdoor skating on a brand new frozen trail, browse the pop-up shops and discover artisanal products, and take part in plenty of other fun winter activities.

Snow Tubing at Mount Royal

Snow season at  Mount Royal has officially kickedTickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children. Passes can be purchased from the Beaver Lake Pavilion. Don’t forget, it’s BYOIT (bring your own inner tube).

Go on a tobogganing adventure

Take your date on a classic winter adventure: tobogganing down one of the city’s many hills. Whether you’re more of a plastic disk, magic carpet, or wooden sled kind of person, there are plenty of places to enjoy an afternoon whizzing down Montreal’s natural slopes. Mount Royal, Parc Lafontaine, and Westmount are great places to go tobogganing this winter. Note: if you have your own sled, this activity is free, and if not Dollarama typically sells magic carpets for as little as $2.

Go snowshoeing 

Thanks to Montreal’s plethora of urban parks, there are plenty of trails for you to wander this winter. Dig that old pair of snowshoes out of your closet or rent a brand new pair, whatever you do you’re sure to enjoy this snowy activity.
