It’s the last Thursday in June and it’s also the appetizer to a long weekend all across Canada.

There are plenty of activities happening in Montreal today, June 28, a perfect starter to what is lining up to be a spectacular holiday weekend in Montreal.

Seal at Jazz Fest

It’s tough in deciding what’s better news, the fact that Montreal’s International Jazz Festival starts today or that Seal is headlining it. Regardless, the 55-year-old English singer/songwriter has sold more than 20 million copies around the world and he’s here to kick off Jazz Fest with a bang.

Kiss From a Rose anybody?

PoutineFest

After 3 successful editions in Montreal, PoutineFest has branched out to other venues and today marks their first stop at the Quartier Dix30. Chefs from a variety of South Shore restaurants will be showcasing their best poutines for you to devour. Check out the Quebec-favourite meal from the following restaurant’s food trucks: Charlie’s Shack, Greg’s DINER, Le Smoking BBQ, Poutine Factory, Poutine No 800, Seasoned Dreams, and Smoke’s.

Mtl en Arts

Mtl en Arts is Montreal’s largest open-air art exhibition and it starts today! The festival aims to promote and develop the concept of art in the street and in public spaces. One-kilometre’s worth of the famous Rue Saint Catherine is closed off to vehicular traffic.

The stretch of art welcomes painters, photographers, sculptors, illustrators, ceramists, and glassmakers.

Roast Battle

Six comedians and a host get together at Medley Simple Malt in the South Shore and roast each other. The goal is to insult the other comedians in the funniest (and sometimes meanest) way possible much to the delight of the audience.

It sounds harsh but it’s all in good, hilarious fun.

When: June 28, 29 and 30
Time: 11:30 pm – 12:30 am
Where: Medley Simple Malt – 6206 Rue St-Hubert

Tacos & Tattoos

This is exactly what it sounds like. Local tattoo artists and Ta Chido Mexican Snack-bar have teamed up to bring together the 2nd edition of Tacos & Tattoos. Come check out some of Montreal’s best tattoo artists, listen to live Latin music or partake in tequila shots and cocktails.

Organizers recommend getting there early as it’s first come, first served (cash only).

Also, you get a free taco if you get inked. Because let’s face it tattoos last forever but tacos are limited.

When: Thursday, June 28
Time: 5 pm – 11 pm
