Looking for a cheap (and amazing) place to spend your next holiday? Add Montreal to the top of your list.

Forbes has named Montreal the best budget travel destination for 2018. A panel of travel experts worked together to rank the top 27 places in the world that won’t break the bank and Montreal received a stellar review.

Montreal, with its strong French influence, offers a European fix without the long and expensive flight,” writes travel TV host Samantha Brown, who placed the city in the top spot.

Brown goes on to acknowledge Montreal’s amazing public art installation, Cite Memoire, which she considers a must-see attraction.

“In 2017, one of the most ambitious public art works ever was created: CiteMemoire, in which the 375-year history of the city is projected onto the buildings and streets in Old Montreal. It is nothing short of spectacular and all you have to do is download a free app,” she writes.

Montreal is the only Canadian city to make the list. From our amazing public art to seasonal festivals and plethora of budget-friendly attractions and things to do it’s no wonder we came in first place!
