Kellie Leitch sends out sponsored email proposing 'values test' for all new Canadians

Kellie Leitch wants to challenge potential immigrants to Canada.

iPolitics.ca is reporting that in a sponsored email sent out by the right-wing website TheRebel.media, the Tory leadership candidate outlines three example questions she wants to pose towards all potential new Canadians:

Are men and women equal, and entitled to equal protection under the law?

Is it ever ok to coerce or use violence against an individual or a group who disagrees with your views?

Do you recognize that to have a good life in Canada you will need to work hard for yourself and your family, and that you can’t expect to have things you want given to you?

The screening process also envisions all potential immigrants would be required to have “a face-to-face interview with a trained immigration officer and asked questions to ascertain whether or not their values are consistent with our way of life.”

Leitch goes on in the email to describe the process as “obvious, desirable, and fair,” and asserts that the patronizing questions will somehow uphold the values that she deems “quintessential.”

The email closes by asking recipients “What do you think?”

Of course, this email is speaking only to TheRebel.media subscribers, many of whom would already support (and thus validate) her anti-immigration stance.

If you’re not a subscriber, you can still share your thoughts with Leitch by reaching her directly here or here or here.
