Cornwall Fire Services have found a way to really resonate with people when it comes to raising awareness for fire prevention.

Fire Chief Pierre Voisine of Cornwall Ontario, channelled his inner Freddie Mercury Emergency in a hilarious video that urges people to check their smoke detectors on a monthly basis.

The video shows Chief Voisine in uniform, against a black backdrop parodying Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ in which he’s superimposed four versions of himself with different hairstyles, singing, “testing your smoke alarms – that’s what really matters to me.”

The resulting video is perfectly executed and YouTube commenters are already asking for a full version of the hit 1975 song.

The City of Cornwall claims to have shared the parody with their namesake neighbours in the UK and have asked the UK’s Cornwall Chief Fire Officer about a sing-off. Meaning, a duet of Queen-inspired Cornwall Fire Officers may be on the horizon.

We can only hope. Until then, be sure to make sure your smoke detectors are working properly.
