With the sun coming back out for the weekend and Cinco de Mayo quickly upon us, it’s time for celebration!

Just in case you forgot or were in need of a friendly reminder, Cinco de Mayo will actually fall on a weekend this year – Saturday, May 5.

It’s a sure sign that the entire city will be ready to flood the streets of Montreal to soak in some sunshine and partake in the festivities.

With so many spots for Montrealers to choose from, it’s hard to decide on just one or two to visit during the day. So for the best in Mexican cuisine, tequila, and spiked beverages, here are some restaurants and bars where you can check out Cinco de Mayo this year.

While 3 Amigos might land as a more mainstream choice in Montreal’s Mexican dining scene, they’ll still be bringing a celebration to their restaurant. On Saturday at their St. Catherine location only, they’ll have mariachis, a live DJ, a burrito eating contest, as well as specialty cocktails and shooters.

While the tropical bar may not be your typical go-to for authentic Mexican cuisine, with $1 tacos, you can at least consider them for an afterparty. You can expect specials on tequila and Corona, as well as a live Mariachi band. There will be prizes and giveaways throughout the night and the first few arrivals will receive maracas and sombreros.
