5 things to do in Montreal today: Wednesday, May 16

May 15 2018, 11:01 pm

The weekend is now in our crosshairs, how about a few hump day events to get you into the latter half of the week? We’ve got a few things happening around Montreal this Wednesday, May 16.

Combat d’Archers Drop-in

Combat d’Archers may sound intimidating but it’s not – it’s dodgeball with bow and arrows. Okay, maybe it does sound intimidating but it’s a lot of fun. You’re given a face mask as protection and there are ample objects to hide behind. The arrows are cushioned at the end so they don’t hurt when/if you’re tagged. The Combat d’Archers drop-in happens every Wednesday, it costs $25 and you get 2 hours of dodgin’ and bowin’. Register by phone or leave them a message on Facebook.

Where: 3955 rue De Rouen

When: Every Wednesday from 12:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Admission: Passes can be bought online for $25

iSaute Kirkland

Take your kids to iSaute Kirkland and pretend it’s for them when it’s really for you. iSaute is a massive venue that has over 30 giant trampolines, trampoline basketball, wall climbing and a trampoline jungle gym. You pay by the hour, there’s a lot to do and it’s actually a fantastic workout. Fun for all ages!

Shane Murphy at Honey Martin Pub

Shane Murphy is one of the best musicians in Montreal. He’s appeared at Jazz Fest and Osheaga and does his regular Wednesday gig every week at Honey Pub in NDG. He’s silky smooth on the guitar and has a soothing and hip voice. He plays covers and original pieces, considering it’s free entrance to watch him – it’s an absolute steal.

Dollar Cinema

Dollar Cinema is an absolute gem of a find. They show 2nd-run movies at a two-screen venue (only in English). It’s great for a date or for people who want to watch a relatively new movie on the big screen instead of Netflix. They’re currently highlighted by Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Pacific Rim Uprising and The Shape of Water to name a few but check out the website for complete listing.

Oh yeah, snacks are $1.

Coup Sûr

With baseball season is in full swing and softball season just getting off the ground, why not take a couple cuts at the batting cage? Coup Sûr has six pitching machines all throwing at various speeds and each machine throws either baseballs or softballs. They have a closed off radar section too if you want to practice pitching. They supply bats and helmets and boast an impressive Baseball Town store if you’re looking for some gear.
