Just like how Rome wasn’t built in a day, you can’t see all there is to see in Rome in a day. But after those busy (and crowded) days of sightseeing, there is nothing better than winding down with a bevvy of your choice.

To help you navigate your way through this busy city, here’s a roundup of our favourite spots in the city to enjoy a drink. Start off by ordering an Aperol Spritz or a bierria at one of these spots, and follow the locals to see where the night takes you to create your own bar crawl through the city!

You can reach this speakeasy through a wardrobe door in the back of the restaurant Osteria delle Copelle. Classy, yummy cocktails – and we could say the same for the bartenders. If you can’t find the bathroom, check through the bookcase on the wall … *speakeasy inception*

Members-only speakeasy: Jerry Thomas

You’ll have to search for the password for this speakeasy on the homepage of their website, but if you can make it through the door, you’re in for a dark and smoky treat — everything from the décor to the staff outfits screams the roarin’ twenties. You will have to pay a small “membership” fee, which lasts you for a year. Consider it a cover charge. Once you taste the cocktails, it’ll all be worth it!

Mixing the best elements of a dive bar in a classy atmosphere, Freni e Frizioni (Brakes and Clutches) takes its name from the mechanic workshop that used to be where the bar is now. In the warmer months, this bar gets so busy that crowds spill onto the street after they grab a drink from the bar. Be sure to also try their drink of the week, freshly mixed up by the bartenders.
