The crazy line-ups at Walmart are no longer a concern for shoppers in select regions in the Greater Toronto Area.

Walmart Canada announced today that it’s partnering with Instacart to offer same-day grocery delivery.

The service available in the GTA starting today as part of a pilot program between the two companies.

Until now, the chain has offered next-day delivery and grocery pick-up, but this new launch will see purchases delivered in as fast as one hour.

According to a press release, “rollout to additional markets will be based on customer engagement and adoption of the platform.”

“Canadian families are busy, and saving time is as important as saving money,” said Lee Tappenden, President and CEO, Walmart Canada. “By teaming up with Instacart, we’re providing our customers with express home delivery of fresh, quality groceries at Walmart’s low prices every day in as little as an hour.”

Customers need only to download the Instacart app or visit instacart.ca to find their local Walmart store and place their order. Instacart, the same platform providing ordering and delivery from Loblaw stores, enlists personal shoppers to shop on the customer’s behalf.
