The Victoria Bridge closure only adds to Montreal’s brutal weekend driving conditions

You may want to do some research before hitting the road this weekend. Road closures around the Turcot Interchange are in effect, the new Champlain Bridge is dealing with construction, Ste. Catherine Street is partially closed, the Mercier Bridge is down to one lane all summer and the Victoria Bridge will be closed all weekend.

Yikes.

Quebec Transport officials have added new road closures for the weekend at two heavily trafficked areas.

Starting Friday night, the Victoria Bridge will have one lane open towards the South Shore and will be completely closed off all weekend for inbound traffic.

Parts of Ste. Catherine Street will be closed off all weekend as well, from Rue Guy to Rue Bleury, as it hosts the city’s biggest sidewalk sale of the year.

City officials recommend travellers to head to the east end of the city if you’re hoping to get off-island without too much of a bother.

Motorists can keep an eye on all of the bridge’s liveview bridge-cam and plan well ahead if you’re want to make any off-island excursions this weekend.

At this point, Montrealers might want to consider sailboat.
