8 Vancouver celebs we want to hear make SkyTrain and bus announcements

May 26 2018, 1:03 am

If TransLink is looking for any Vancouverites to lend their voices to SkyTrain and bus announcements, we’ve got some ideas.

With Morgan Freeman’s TransLink announcements being put on “pause”  following allegations of inappropriate behaviour, there is definitely plenty of homegrown talent who could lend their voices.

Seth Rogen is definitely a top-contender and he even volunteered for the job. But if TransLink needs more local options, here are a few to consider:

Ryan Reynolds aka Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

Ryan Reynolds is a proud Vancouver boy who is also the face behind the Deadpool mask. We can’t mention what Deadpool would actually say on the announcements (cause it probably would be inappropriate) but just think how entertaining it would be.

Lil Tay

It may come as a surprise, but Lil Tay aka the “Youngest Flexer of the Century” does have ties to our city. Remember when she claimed she had a house in the Hollywood Hills but it was actually a downtown Vancouver highrise?

We can definitely see this nine-year-old Insta-brat make a TransLink announcement that would make us all listen when we had to get off the bus or train:

“This train costs more than your rent! Now get off, you broke-a** hater!”

Michael Buble

Burnaby’s very own Michael Buble has the voice of a jazz angel that can ease the nerves of even the grumpiest transit user.

Bryan Adams

He may be from Ontario but rocker Bryan Adams has spent a lot of time in Vancouver. He knows the city and he knows how to sing. Perfect combo.

Cobie Smulders

Smulders, whose best known for her role as Robin Scherbatsky on How I Met Your Mother, is a proud Vancouverite and we’re sure she’s taken a couple rides on the SkyTrain before her rise to fame.

Jacob Tremblay

This 11-year-old Vancouverite has starred in huge Hollywood flicks like Room and Wonder and he’s adorable. It’s a win-win.

Imagine all SkyTrain and bus announcements sung to the tune of “Call Me Maybe”  —we’d never be able to get them out of our head.

” Hey you just tapped in, and this is crazy, but you must tap out–or get charged maybe”

Nardwaur the Human Serviette

Nardwaur is whacky, weird, and he always keeps it interesting. He’s interviewed some of the biggest stars (including our other Vancouver fave Seth Rogen) so making TransLink announcements will be a breeze. Also, he can sign off every announcement with “doot doota loot doo…”
