The Friendly Stranger, a Queen Street West staple since 1994 just announced that they have partnered with Green Acre Capital (GAC), a private investment fund specialized in supporting growth in the cannabis industry.
With the investment, The Friendly Stranger plans to expand into a multi-door retail brand that will distribute cannabis alongside the accessories its known for.
Earlier this year, Ford’s government changed up the Liberal’s previous model for cannabis retail, which would have left operations entirely to the government.
The Ontario Cannabis Store will continue to run wholesale, distribution, and online retail.
Brick-and-mortar stores are expected in Ontario by April 2019, at which time The Friendly Stranger will begin legal cannabis sales.
