First look at the swanky French eatery opening in Richmond (PHOTOS)
There’s a swanky new spot opening its doors in Richmond in a few weeks, and its called Origo Club.
If it sounds bougie that’s because it’s the spinoff of an exclusive members-only club and art showcase in Beijing, but you don’t need a golden ticket to walk through the doors of this gorgeous John Henshaw Architect Inc-designed and Glasfurd and Walker-branded Insta-worthy destination.

The eatery boasts seating for 42 at the stunning white marble-topped tables, along with several private rooms that can be rented for larger groups and eventually tea tastings.

The 5,200 sq. ft. spot screams French bistro in style but has a visible array of Chinese elements, presenting the patron a feast for the eyes as soon as they walk in.
The coffee program is also on point – you can walk in and order it to go like any other cafe. Origo carefully sources all of its beans and plans to roast some themselves in the future.

While it may seem like this spot is all about the booze at first (you’ll notice there’s a prominent selection of French wine, beer, champagne, and bespoke cocktails), the food is a highlight you’ve got to dig into.
Origo doesn’t have a full-service restaurant kitchen, but they’ve got a staff that could run one with their eyes closed: Head Chef David Pan (Bishops) and Sous Chefs Dilan Draper (Wildebeest) and Tony Hua (Toronto’s Cava) lead the culinary team here and have crafted a menu of French cuisine plated to perfection.

Did we mention the gallery in the back? The custom-made round moon door is a work of art itself, and after you pass that threshold you enter a space made for ever-changing exhibitions of Asian art, pottery, and sculptures.

All-in-all a pretty unique concept this mellow vibes but a buzz-worthy array of eats and beverages. We are seeing more places trying to adapt to our spur-of-the-moment urges by offering us breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between.
Whether you’re grabbing a cup of Joe to go, having a sit-down lunch, or a couple evening cocktails and share plates, Origo’s planning to have you covered.

The new Richmond spot will be soft launching during its first few weeks of service. It will be open five days a week (Tuesday to Saturday) but eventually plans to be open seven days a week from 10 am to 11 pm.
